MAD IN FRANCE
Two French invent a bike electrical assistance, 100% MAD IN FRANCE, Charles Hurtebize, and Guillaume Adriansen, two Rouen, come to invent a bicycle with electric assistance (VAE), 100 % French and norman. The two young entrepreneurs hope to take advantage of the boom in the sales of two-wheelers in France, while offering a top of the range, quality and at an attractive price. Whether on the internet or in the merchants classic, the sales of bicycle took off in France since a few years ago with a margin of double-digit growth

Sprintant on the boulevard of a market for the bike with electric assistance (VAE) in full swing, two young people from Rouen have just set up an electric bike high-end, beautiful, racy and competitive price. A story of friendship of twenty years and ten years of reflection on this project that led Guillaume Adriansen, 38 years old, and Charles Hurtebize, 35 years old, imagine what two-wheels like a fixie, bike, fixed-gear, sometimes no brakes at the front, which made the reputation of the steeds of the big american cities. Until now, online distributors of the australian brand Chappelli Cycles, Guillaume Adriansen and Charles Hurtebize are two fans. " We love the subject ", summarizes soberly the eldest of the accomplices, a native ofYvetot, in the country of Caux.
Assembled in France
" The initial idea came from working with China. There is a lot of supply problems, delays, out of stock. And then, the "made in France" does not exist ", summarizes the inventor of the brand " of The bike, Mad in France. " " It is a game of words. Mad means crazy in English ", smiled William. They found an attentive ear to the Manufacture française des cycles, in Machecoul, near Nantes. " It is the manufacturer of the brand name Gitane. They are interested in this bike racy and design of 20 kg intended for the 20-45 years. We have the specifications of the factory for registration, more that of an outsider. " The aluminium frame is manufactured in China. " The factories to weld these frames are all there. Anyway, no bike is completely manufactured in France ". But the assembly and painting - two colors, matte black or bright white - have taken place in France.
On the side of the accessories, "Mad in France" has put the package : saddle and handles in leather in the English Brooks, derailleur Japanese Shimano, battery semi-integrated engine and the German BMZ, tires-sided cream and hydraulic disc brakes of Americans WTB and Promax. A bike chic and class, intended for city dwellers sometimes a little boho or hipster. With performances at the rendezvous, which is far from being negligible in this market of the EAB, where there are also a lot of scrap... " It's still a bike city, but it is very reactive in particular with the crank speed sensor ", stresses Guillaume Adriansen.
With five levels of assistance, the driving is very pleasant. Six km/h from standstill for an average of 25 km/h while pedaling. The integration of a derailleur with ten speeds makes it also easier to grip, especially if you find yourself out of battery power. Its range is 50 kilometers. " It all depends on the weight of the person, then I have already done 60 kilometres. The charging is carried out in 2 h 30, 80 % charge in 1 h 30 ", says Guillaume Adriansen.
